Mission: Vision: Structure of the School Safety Division The commanding officer manages the MPD School Safety Division and maintains functional supervision over the personnel detailed to the Police Districts, ensuring that their efforts are fully supportive of the MPD’s school safety effort and reflect the policies and standards established for school safety. Oversees the management of the school security program in D.C. public schools, including implementation of the school security guard contract in coordination with the Contracting Officers’ Technical Representative in the Office of Corporate Support; and coordinates regular reviews of the quality of school security being provided by both contract and MPD personnel. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with appropriate MPD and DCPS officials regarding school safety. Conducts analysis of school security issues and patterns of problems across the city, to form new interventions and problem-solving activities with District officers. Researches and implements best practices and innovative approaches to providing a safe learning environment. |
